About the Event

E2E are returning to Edinburgh due to popular demand for another #ScaleUp2Success event on 15th May and we would be delighted if you would like to join us.

We have teamed up with IWG (Regus and Spaces), the UK’s largest serviced office provider with a network of 360 locations in every major town and city in the UK, to create the UK’s largest ecosystem of SME business leaders and entrepreneurs. We are hosting joint events with Spaces which are designed to inspire, teach and collaborate in city centres all across the UK.

Our #SCALEUP2SUCCESS events are a mixture of networking where you get the opportunity to meet like-minded entrepreneurs, followed by short syndicate sessions designed to give you some pointers on a number of different help topics including Digital Marketing and HR. This is followed by a panel of the UK’s leading scale up entrepreneurs and motivational speakers to inspire you!

The event is all about:

  • Helping you to scale and grow your business

  • Connecting you with an entrepreneurial community of founders, CEOs, SMEs and C-Suites from Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

  • Encouraging you to facilitate growth by becoming an E2E member, where you will benefit from exclusive events, access to our £50m financing facility for SMEs and many more corporate services at discounted rates. Click here to learn more.

Introducing our panel:

Jim McColl OBE – Chairman & Chief Executive, Clyde Blowers Capital

Jim McColl left school at the age of 16. His first job was that of apprentice in one of Glasgow’s leading engineering companies, Weir Pumps. After working for six years with Weir Pumps he left to study full time for a BSc degree in Technology and Business Studies at Strathclyde University. He returned to Weir Pumps for another three years during which he studied part-time for a Masters degree in Business Administration.

In 1981 Jim was appointed to a senior management position in Diamond Power Speciality Limited, an engineering company that supplied equipment to the power industry worldwide. Jim was in charge of engineering, project management and manufacturing. At the same time Jim completed a 3-year part-time course of study towards a Masters in International Accounting and Finance. In 1985 Jim was head-hunted by Coopers & Lybrand as a senior consultant in corporate care. His job was to work with companies that were experiencing financial difficulties and needed turning around. In 1986, realising that he could do similar work on his own account, he left Coopers & Lybrand and became a self-employed “company doctor”.

After several successful turnarounds, Jim bought in 1992 a 29.9% stake in Clyde Blowers plc, a small engineering company with a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. Jim led a management buyout of Clyde Blowers plc to take the company private.
During 2001 the Clyde Blowers business was reorganised to form a portfolio of global engineering companies, each with its own independent management and financing structure.
